CVO HISTORY

 THE CROSSIAN VOICE ORGANIZATION
(HISTORY)

The organization was founded in the year 1981 named “ Holy Cross of Davao College Choir “ composed of both High school and College students through the initiative of Miss. Benita Mag-aso Heps, a former Religious Education Coordinator with the help of Mr. Noel Pinili, a ReEd teacher and a Campus Ministry staff. It started with 17 members, all boys. It was mainly organized to make the Liturgical celebrations and Prayer Services in the school more meaningful and alive.

In the year 1982, the group began to recruit women as members. The name of the group became “Crossian Voice“but exclusively for college students only.

Aside from being the College choir, the group also accepted outside singing engagements like weddings, funeral services etc. They were trained not only to sing Liturgical songs but also other songs to be performed in and outside the school. The members were also able to organize concerts as fund raising of the group.

During the past years, the members were given the privilege not to take Physical Education subjects because the group’s activities were credited as their P.E. The moderators through the help of the officers were responsible in computing the grades based on the performance and the attendance of the members. In fact two of its moderators: Arnulfo Ramos and Elsa Corbit were Crossian Voice members during their college days who availed this privilege to be exempted from taking Physical Education subjects.

In the year 1994, the group became purely a religious organization with the name Crossian Voice Organization (CVO) and not anymore credited as P.E.

From 1981 up to 2003, the CVO served the Sta. Ana Parish as choir in one of the Sunday Masses. It was discontinued because the members were encouraged to go back to their own parish during Sunday.

Since its existence, the Crossian Voice Organization is under the umbrella of the HCDC Campus Ministry Office.
